The Soggy Bottom series returns this winter at Newnham Park, Plympton. The classic winter grassroots feel of the Soggies keeps competitors returning annually. If you've never participated in a Soggy Bottom race, you're missing out. Newnham boasts an abundance of trails, and we select weather-dependent courses for our races, ensuring that even in inclement weather, the course remains suitable for racing. We challenge our more experienced riders with 'A' lines and technical sections, but for those new to the sport or preferring not to take risks, there are simpler 'B' line options. Our goal is to cater to all skill levels and ensure that everyone enjoys themselves at our events.

This year we are very pleased to have been upgraded to a British cycling regional A level series so any of you with a bc race licence will not only be able to chuck yourselves around our course but score national ranking points at the same time. 

Race categories

Under 8's,10's and 12's 

Juvenile, Youth, Junior, Sport, Vet, Grand vet and Super vet. We also have a "fun" category for beginners 

* our system will separate genders automatically and all races have male or female categories.

Practice times 

9.00am childrens course only

10.45-11.45am main course  ( you must be at the start line for a race briefing by 11.45am)

Race times

Under 8 = 9.30am 9 (15 mins)

Under 10 and 12 = 10.00 am (20 mins)

Everyone else = 12.00pm (Race duration varies through categories, see entry form for details)
