It's back!
The Stinger Duathlon is back at Newnham after a break of quite a few years.
Beginning with a 5km* run, followed by a 20km* mountain bike and finishing with a technical 3.5km* run. You have the option of competiting solo or creating a pair with one person doing all the mountain biking and another doing all the running. Both the mountain bike and the trail run will contain technical sections - you will need trail shoes and a mountain bike to take part.
*Distances are approximate - this is a mountain bike and trail run.
Lots of parking in the main event field at Newnham, toilets available and mud provided free of charge.
Minimum age is 13 years.
Timings on the day
0830 Registration and course practice opens
1100 Race to start in the main event field. If competing as a pair the mountain bikers must be in transition waiting for their runner to return at the end of the first run lap
1330 Podiums
How it works (important read)
You will be issued a number board for your bike (or the bike half of your team) and a paper number for the runner. The paper number must be attached to the front of the runner, no numbers on shorts (we can't see them clearly enough for timing).
You (or one member of the team) will do a single lap of the long run course. Start will either be mass start in the field or wave start in the field, depending on numbers. Solo competitors - you will enter transition at the end of the first run lap, put your helmet on first before doing anything else. You will need a box / bucket / large bag to contain all your belongings in transition. This limits the risk of people wearing each others shoes etc in error.
